It has been two years since Sidon, a sweet yellow lab, joined the Archbishop Moeller family. He was brought in through a special partnership with theKeep Going 25 Foundation, which was established to honor the legacy of Moeller alumnus Michael Currin ’20. The foundation funds programs that work to develop inner strength and resiliency in students. Sidon’s addition to the Moeller family was especially meaningful for the Keep Going 25 Foundation as Michael had a special bond with his golden retriever, Clive.
Moeller students enjoy interacting with Sidon, which was expected. In addition, the faculty and staff also appreciate him and seek him out throughout the day. Moeller staff members say that Sidon seems to have an innate sense of when someone is distressed and he responds in a calming, reassuring manner . School counselors have seenhis presence calm students, helping them to talk about their feelings, and helping them feel safe to open up about their concerns.
While Sidon knows when to“go to work” and knows what needs to be done to help a student, he is also playful. He isentertaining in the classroom and enjoys showing off his tricks and skills . A personal favorite is when he obeys the “pray” command and places his head in his paws. Sidon has developed a tradition of seeking out his treat buddies on walks down the hall. He knows where his favorite faculty and staff are and sticks his head in the window until they notice him.
