As the host family for Lucy, we are truly blessed to have her in our home. Lucy is the facility dog at Mason Intermediate School (grades 5-6) in the Mason City School District. She has been at the school since January of 2020 and is adored by students and staff. Being the permanent host for Lucy has been tremendously rewarding. She has bonded with our family and also the kids and families in our neighborhood.
Lucy is a superstar, and everyone loves seeing her on her daily walks in the neighborhood. Everyone greets Lucy with enthusiasm, sometimes forgetting there is a human with her! Lucy’s calm demeanor and gentleness are best on display when she is at school. She is a soothing presence when students need a break, and she is especially good at seeking out those students who need her. It is like she can sense a person’s distress and she wants to make it better. Not only is Lucy fabulous at her job and such an asset to Mason Intermediate, but she is also a wonderful part of our family. We are lucky to be her “forever” home!
