Meet my hearing service dog, Lochlan, aka Loki! I’m a disabled veteran and hearing impaired, I have a hard time hearing conversations and any type of alarms, rings, or tones. There is a feeling of isolation with not being able to hear common sounds and I’m not always aware of my surroundings.
Since I’ve been partnered with Loki, she has been a huge blessing in my day-to-day quality of life. She enjoys her service and alerts me to sounds around my home; like a doorbell or knock, an alarm, ding, or ring & any noises around the house such as the garage door opening and distant tornado sirens. She knows my name and alerts me if someone said my name to get my attention. Working from home, Loki loves her office window and is always at my side and reacts to any noise so I’m aware something is going on, it’s comforting to know she will alert me.
Circle Tail’s assistance dog program is priceless. They have a very professionally structured process and care deeply for the dogs, it shows in the way the dog’s pride themselves in their work. I’m grateful for their patience teaching me my human skills and respecting my disability, they trained me to enable Loki to provide the best assistance support. What an awesome program for people with disabilities and for the service dog’s lifelong commitment.
