Volunteer Opportunities

See calendar for Volunteer Orientation

Circle Tail has four main volunteer needs:

1. ON-SITE

Volunteers are needed to come to Circle Tail to help care for, exercise, socialize and train the dogs/pups on site. In addition, there are many other tasks to keep the Circle Tail trails open and the grounds and buildings clean, safe and looking good.

2. OFF-SITE

People are needed to staff information booths at various pet and health related fairs around Cincinnati. We also need people to speak to various schools and businesses about the programs of Circle Tail. Some volunteer tasks can be done in the comfort of your home. In any capacity, you will be helping the Circle Tail dogs immensely.

3. FUNDRAISING/SPECIAL EVENTS/COMMITTEES

If you are in sales or public relations, we need grant writers and volunteers to help with fundraising and marketing. We need volunteers to help with and lead various events throughout the year, especially our Annual Dinner, Art & Wine for Canines event.

Events & Fundraising Committee Members Needed:
Circle Tail is in need of volunteers to assist on the Events & Fundraising Committee. There are a variety of member positions that need filling including volunteers to be responsible for acquiring items for gift bags, a liaison for in store events, securing sponsorships for fundraisers and assisting with marketing materials and PR/Media coverage. 4. FOSTER FAMILIES

Foster families are needed for our service/hearing dog program in order to increase our success with training and placing these dogs with people with disabilities. The foster families house, care for, socialize, reinforce manner and commands, and take our service dogs in training out to public places so that they are confident, well socialized and have impeccable public manners. Here is more information on fostering.

LOCATION

Circle Tail is located at 8834 Carey Lane in Butlerville, Ohio, off Route 132 in Warren County. We are approximately 30 miles east of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Here is a Google Map.

CHILDREN

All of our opportunities are for dog lovers 16 years of age and over. Volunteers must be mature enough to handle dogs appropriately through training classes.  Volunteers aged 16-18 are welcome without a supervising adult, provided they have their own transportation and have shown themselves to be responsible and self-sufficient.

While we cannot accommodate volunteer groups of young children at our facility, Circle Tail always appreciates groups who gather donations of items from our wish list, and we are happy to schedule a volunteer to come to your organization with one our dogs to talk about our programs. We strongly support scouts achieving their Eagle Scout or Gold Award at Circle Tail. We can also accommodate service hours required for many local schools. If you would like more information on opportunities for children or a speaker at your school/ group, please email volunteer@circletail.org with the details.
